Painting From Photos

I'm loving Alisa Burke's Sketchbook Delight online class. She's so creatively cool. For some reason I have always felt guilty painting from photos, even if they were mine. Not anymore. I don't feel very creative out in public where people are watching so working from photos makes perfect sense. Here's a peek at my sketch of The Necessary, that cool little house at the JC Raulston Aboretum in Raleigh. Thank you for the inspiration Alisa!

I feel guilty too! why is that I wonder? Like I'm not a "real" artist if I cheat by using a photo.

Anyway, great sketch/painting! I love all the colors together!

Oh wow I love this! I feel guilty about that too! I can't sketch outside either really. I don't like anyone watching me so I am just going to take pictures and got over the guilt!!!

Thank you for the nice comments! It was drilled into my head in art classes to NOT draw from photos but I'm done with that silliness.
